The Karori Golf Club is situated in the scenic South Makara Valley on the western outskirts of Wellington city. Being only 13km and 25 minutes from downtown Wellington, it offers locals and visitors the opportunity to escape the urban hustle and bustle and play golf in serene country surrounds undisturbed by traffic and other city noise.
The course consists of 18 diverse and interesting holes, all distinctly different and defined by the natural topography of their surrounds, including a meandering stream through some of them, rather than by man made mounds and bunkers. With part of the course being on a slight slope in a sheltered basin, many holes have elevated greens, which in turn are rewarded by several elevated tees.
The course is 5350m long off the men’s white tees, and has an NZCR of 69.2 and a slope index of 123. The par for men for the course is 70 and for women it is 71. The scenic course provides a variety of challenges for both low and higher handicappers, and everyone who plays it invariably comes off the course having enjoyed both their golf and the natural ambiance and serenity of the course.
The club house includes a small shop as well as a café and bar which is open everyday and which provides a relaxing and convivial atmosphere for after play refreshments and socialising.
Outside the club house are 3 practice nets, a putting green, and 2 air pressure guns for cleaning shoes and trundlers. The club has 5 carts available for hire during Clubhouse hours.
