Ellesmere Golf Club
The Ellesmere Golf Club is an 18 hole par 72 golf course, located 3 kilometres south of the Leeston township. The course has an extensive irrigation system which allows the fairways and greens to be well maintained for excellent year round golf.
The Club welcomes all fee paying golfers. Members can be seen playing on the course most days of the week. Visitors find that they are able to play on most days although there is some restriction on club days.
It is an 18 hole course with wide open fairways and good greens. Although the course may look easy, it often has some tricky tee shots that require careful planning. The course is maintained by mostly volunteers but is regarded as one of the best 18 holes courses in the Central Canterbury region. One visitor described it after playing on it as " a well hidden gem".
The Club house ,with bar facilities and food available, is open only on days when members are officially playing the course. However in addition to the club house there is a practice fairway and practice green.
