Christchurch Golf Club
The Christchurch Golf Club has a proud history dating back to 1873. The club is the second oldest in New Zealand and one of the oldest outside the United Kingdom.
The club has hosted numerous New Zealand Open and amateur men's and women's championships, including the 1990 World Eisenhower Amateur teams tournament.
The course (known as Shirley) is situated only 20 minutes from the airport and widely acknowledged as one of the best in New Zealand.
The club is open every day with a fully stocked Pro Shop along with Clubhouse catering facilities.
The course is renowned world wide as a challenging championship course of the highest quality, offering a fair test of golf to both the club or professional golfer.
The course features excellent fairways, over 70 strategically placed bunkers, water hazards and beautiful greens.
The course is set on gently undulating terrain and is a comfortable walk for most golfers, although carts are available.
The course measures 6309 metres from the championship tees, 6031 from the blue tees, 5476 from the white tees, with shorter red tees. Something to suit all golfers.
The Christchurch Golf Club offered full practice facilities, with a driving range (featuring both covered artificial grass bays and natural turf options) alongside a substantial short game area and putting green.
The club is serviced by a fully stocked pro shop, with all the latest equipment and apparel from a variety of manufacturers. Hire equipment is available for guests along with motorised carts. Coaching is available from two NZPGA accredited professionals with many years experience. A junior development academy is available, with junior membership a growth area and focus for the club..
The clubhouse is open seven days with catering and bar facilities. There is a wide variety of food options available.
